MEET DAVID

How K's Outfitter Got Its Start

David Kuhn grew up in Northeast Pennsylvania, where Holbert Creek and the Lackawaxen River became his classroom. Every bend, pool, and riffle taught him something about patience, respect, and the joy of discovery. Those waters gave him a lifelong passion for the outdoors.

At 17, David joined the Marine Corps, leaving home just three days after his 18th birthday. Through ten years of service, fishing never left him. Whether casting for bass in San Diego's lakes or chasing tuna in the Pacific, the water always grounded him.

Coming back to civilian life was harder than expected. Like many veterans, David faced challenges, including PTSD. He tried different paths to healing, but none gave lasting relief until he rediscovered fly fishing. The rhythm of the cast, the sound of the river, and the focus on the present moment became more than a hobby. It became a way to breathe again.

That experience is also why David founded Rods for Wheels, a nonprofit dedicated to getting more anglers, especially veterans and people with disabilities, out on the water. He knows firsthand what fishing can give back to someone, and he wanted to make sure that gift was within reach for others facing their own challenges.

Today, as the owner and guide of K's Outfitter, David shares that passion with others. His goal is simple: to help people experience the same peace and renewal that fishing has given him.
